Tonight, CLAW is back with ACLAWcalypse Now. I thought the theme should be What Would You Do For A CLAWndike Bar?, but that didn't win the vote. As always, Blue Moon Diner, 7pm.
Also tonight is Starry Nights at Veritas Winery. $15 at the door for a night time picnic, music, and wine (BYO picnic, buy the wine). Wahooptie is offering round-trip shuttles for $20.
The kiddies are starting to trickle back into town for school.

Bike party
Tonight (June 4) Double the Wheels—Double the Party at Random Row Books brings back the old Happy Rickshaw bike prom. 8:00pm–11:30pm.
If you're a bike-riding person, bring a friend who isn't and go together. And remember kids, friends don't let friends ride home drunk and crash and have to call an ambulance and not remember how old they are when the cops ask as they lay sprawled on the asphalt.
Come to celebrate the BIKE LIFE in Charlottesville and grow our bike community. Invite your bikeless friends and have a beer with them. You could think of it as the new Happy Rickshaw party, without the rickshaws.

CLAWney Island & the CLAW documentary
Time for this summer's first arm wrastlin—CLAWney Island. Freakshooooow. Saturday May 28, 8pm, at the Blue Moon Diner as always. Come, cheer, drink, bribe for your favorite wrestlers. Where else can you see Mary Chapin Carpenter and the mayor wrestle?
Half of you don't know who that is. Because you were 4.
And while we're talking CLAW, head over to kickstarter and check out the CLAW documentary project. The Parking Lot Movie made it nationally; help the CLAW movie follow suit.

12th Street Tap House gone
It's true, 12th Street Tap House has closed. I kind of liked that place, even though it was empty all the time. Word is they shut down because the city wouldn't let them paint their exterior wall. Not really. Remember back when they opened they had really cheap good beers? They should have kept doing that. That might not have kept them open, but we could have been drinking cheap good beers this whole time. Where are we supposed to get Zimas made for us now? Zima girl, if you're tending bar somewhere else, let us know.

CLAW returns
I don't get the whole "not happening" promotion, but the Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers (CLAW) return tomorrow (Friday) night at Blue Moon Diner. Always good times and lots of cheap PBR. Starts at 8pm. $5 entry and bring some money to trade for CLAW Bucks to bribe the judges. It all goes to local charity.

Virginian, Orzo, and Applebees late night
Some long overdue updates.
Some stuff went away at the Virginian and they added $5 top shelf bourbon on Mondays and $3 rails on Tuesdays.
Orzo has been added to the list with an $18 2-course pasta dinner on Mondays and $5 glasses of wine at the wine bar on Thursdays. We're getting fancy here. The happy hour crowd can enjoy a nice meal once in a while too.
Applebees on 29 has ½ off appetizers and $3 Bud Light Sunday—Thursday late-night (after 9pm, but not sure if it ends at midnight or at closing). Also $3 Miller Lights and Mucho Margaritas all day every day.
I'm too lazy to find a vaguely related Amazon affiliate link to stick here.

Top of the Hops Beer Festival?
All on Sept 11:
$35 ÷ 60oz = $0.58/oz
As usual we reference the handy dandy price chart. Paying to drink at Top of the Hops is like paying $7 for a can of beer. It's a $35 pitcher. It's like paying $146 to play in this year's flip cup league. Right? What am I missing?
Top of the Hops is not Special, but if you think the variety is worth $7 cans, then Top of the Hops is for you.
- Cville Social's 4 year anniversary party at McGrady's,
- Inaugural Midtown Street Fair on West Main St, and
- Inaugural Top of the Hops Beer Festival at the Pavilion,
- Starry Nights at Veritas,
- Probably a bunch of other stuff

Small update roundup
McGrady's domestic pitchers on Sundays and Mondays went up $1 to $6. They added $1 ponies of Bud Light and Bud Light Lime on Fridays. BOGO cheese steaks on Saturdays are all day, not just at night like I had them before.
Three added $3 bourbons and $5 crushes (what's a crush?) on Sundays. Their Sunday specials (all of them) start in the morning. On Wednesdays they added $3 bourbons for those with penises and $3 blow pop shooters for everyone. There's a joke there, but I'm too lazy tonight to figure it out. On Tuesdays happy hour ($2 drafts, $5 specialty cocktails and martinis) goes all night.
Trinity is advertising "Fridays After Class", Fridays 2pm–6pm starting this week with specials and music. But I don't know what those specials are.

Cville Social's flip cup league taking registrations
The Charlottesville Sports and Social club is taking registrations for it's Fall league, which includes a flip cup league. Last season, I analyzed the cost of beer through the league, and it wasn't bad. It was of course cheaper to drink alone in your basement, but that's not as fun.
This season they've increased the price to $45 and removed two nights from regular season to make it 6 games. Assuming you suck at flip cup and don't make it into the tourney, let's see how the price stacks up…

18¢ per ounce? You're better off buying $2 cans of PBR at…pretty much any bar that has cans of PBR. But if you're willing to pay an extra 1¢ per ounce—in 2 ounce increments—for the experience of weekly team tournament flip cup, then this league is for you.

Wing eating
McGrady's is running the First Annual Wings for Kids event this weekend to raise money for the UVA Childrean's Hospital.
From McGrady's:
From McGrady's:
The event is a wing speed eating competition that was built as an annual way to do some fundraising for our local community and in short we are in need of more teams to fill up our bracket.
Registration will begin this Saturday at 11am and the competition will begin around noon. Entry is $20 per person and teams must have 4 competitors (including at least one female). The entry fee includes your choice of any pitcher of beer (That’s one pitcher PER PERSON) as well as your wings. Any money above our cost will go directly to the UVA Children’s Hospital. Competitors will have to eat 5 wings per round (which is nothing, I have seen most of you here on Sundays!) and the fastest team moves on. Winners will get cash prizes and full stomachs.
In addition Red Bull is donating cases of Red Bull and we will be running $5 Red Bull Vodka’s all day long and donating $1.50 per can of Red Bull sold to the hospital! (Red Bull Gives You Wings)
You do not have to pay until registration (which is Saturday from 11am to noon) and all you need to do is e-mail us at mcgradysirishpub@gmail.com or call us at 434.293.3473 and say “sign our team up” and we will add you to the list. Lastly, if you can’t, or don’t want to eat the wings, please come out and enjoy the fun – and maybe make a small donation to the Children’s Hospital through Red Bull Vodkas or the donation jar. This is our first annual event and we are really hoping to make it an annual way to have some fun and support our community!

Wear a helmet to 12th Street Tap House for 10% off.
Ride your bike to 12th Street Tap House and get 10% off. Show your helmet as proof. I don't know what the occasion is or how long they're doing it.
Also, if you're gunning for a doctor (the medical kind) to be your future spouse, head there to increase your chances.
